The culinary community in Malaysia is buzzing with excitement as the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation unveils five premium Korean strawberry varieties.
The event organised in collaboration with the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs showcased Kuemsil, Sulhyang, King’s berry, Vitaberry, and Snowberry.
Premium strawberries debut
The announcement made at Sunway Resort Hotel marked the debut of the Korean premium strawberries in Malaysia.
Representatives from the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, media, potential buyers, and influencers gathered for this significant event.
The objective was not only to capture the attention of local industry players but also to generate excitement among Malaysian consumers.
Jang Jae Hyung, Managing Director of Korea Agro-Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, expressed immense pride in bringing the exquisite flavours of premium Korean strawberries to Malaysia.
“This historic moment not only signifies a breakthrough in availability but also strengthens bilateral ties between South Korea and Malaysia, integral trade partners,” he added.
Strategic collaborations and exceptional varieties
The ceremony also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Korean Strawberry Export Integration Organisation (K-Berry), Euro-Atlantic Sdn Bhd, and Khaishen Trading Sdn Bhd.
This strategic collaboration aims to spearhead the expansion of premium Korean strawberries in the Malaysian market.
Each of the five premium strawberry varieties offers distinct qualities:
- Kuemsil: Known as the “apple of the eye,” it blends natural sweetness with subtle peach undertones.
- Sulhyang: A symphony of sweetness and acidity, boasting impeccable juiciness and a bright red conical shape.
- King’s berry: Twice the size of regular strawberries, with a light peach fragrance and a soft, sweet texture.
- Vitaberry: The “idol of strawberries” with over 30% more vitamin C than regular strawberries, offering a nutritious delight.
- Snowberry: Distinguished by a delicate appearance, combining subtle sweetness with a soft, luscious texture.
The introduction of premium Korean strawberries to Malaysia underscores the commitment of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation and the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture to promote agricultural excellence globally.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to the Malaysian government, our partners, stakeholders, and the Malaysian community at large for their warm reception.
We look forward to a future filled with shared culinary experiences, cultural enrichment, and lasting connections,” said Jang.
The breakthrough not only stimulates demand for high-quality produce but also opens avenues for shared culinary experiences and lasting connections.
