NORTHPORT, PORT KLANG, AUGUST 6, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 In a move that strengthens the global supply chain, BYD Malaysia and Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, announced today that carrier vessel BYD Zhengzhou arrived on local shores with fully-built BYD vehicles set for delivery to Malaysian consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BYD-owned roll-on\/roll-off (RORO) vessel with a 7,000-unit capacity made its first journey to Southeast Asia, with deliveries also scheduled for the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore. It arrived at North Port, Port Klang yesterday, before making one final stop in Thailand and continuing its return journey to China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BYD Zhengzhou is the seventh vessel in a fleet of purpose-built carriers, demonstrating the BYD’s robust supply chain and logistics readiness to meet the rising demand for electric vehicles (EV). The vessels are part of the BYD\u2019s expanding export strategies and underscore its commitment to Malaysia as a key market in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors, Southeast Asia said, \u201cThis is a significant milestone in our partnership with BYD, symbolising confidence and the growing potential of Malaysia as a vital EV hub. With the enhanced regional supply chain provided by the BYD carrier vessel, we are now assured of shorter delivery times, enabling us to provide better customer satisfaction, making this a win-win situation for all involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cThis also prepares us to support greater volumes ahead, as we accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia through a dynamic ecosystem that spans retail, after-sales, and customer education as we make the shift towards cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable mobility. This is just the beginning, with more breakthrough innovations and strategic developments ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By operating its own shipping fleet, BYD gains greater control over an integral aspect of the EV supply chain, especially as China continues to lead in EV exports worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built to enhance delivery capabilities, the BYD Zhengzhou ensures faster and more reliable deliveries directly to our customers here,\u201d said Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs China\u2019s automotive exports increase, so does demand for specialised carriers. By investing in our own fleet of vessels, we\u2019re in a more secure position to manage global demand and critical transport resources through superior delivery stability and scale,\u201d he commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vessel\u2019s RORO method, where vehicles are driven directly on and off the vessel, offers substantial time and cost advantages compared with traditional container shipping. As a result of more efficient logistics, BYD Malaysia and Sime Motors are strengthening their partnership while realising their shared goal of delivering EVs to Malaysians at a quicker and more reliable pace, supported by more than 35 BYD outlets nationwide, and target to have 60 BYD outlets by end of year 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
