MALAYSIA \u2013 March 04, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Mastercard today announced the completion of a pilot that delivered its first authenticated agentic transactions in Malaysia, marking a major step forward for trusted AI\u2011powered commerce. The pilot was conducted with CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (\u201cCIMB\u201d) and RHB Banking Group (\u201cRHB\u201d) using Mastercard Agent Pay and was initiated by AI agents in a controlled pilot environment, ensuring security, transparency and full consumer control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pilot demonstrated how AI can support consumers to complete everyday tasks \u2014 such as transportation \u2014 securely and seamlessly. In the inaugural test case, an AI agent booked a ride from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to KL Sentral through hoppa, a global mobility provider. The booking and agentic transaction was facilitated by CardInfoLink\u2019s AI agent, which connects to hoppa\u2019s taxi and airport limousine network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transaction used tokenized credentials authenticated with Mastercard Payment Passkeys to ensure strong customer verification and data protection<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the pilot confirmed the technical and operational feasibility of agentic transactions in Malaysia, commercial deployment will be rolled out in phases<\/strong>. Mastercard will work closely with issuing banks and partners to educate consumers on agentic commerce<\/strong>, helping them engage with AI-driven payments safely and confidently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mastercard Agent Pay provides the safeguards needed for secure AI\u2011initiated transactions. Each transaction uses Mastercard Agentic Token, uniquely issued to each agent for enhanced security. Consumer consent is explicitly captured, and purchase confirmation is secured via Mastercard Payment Passkeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
