As one of the world\u2019s megadiverse countries, Malaysia possesses exceptionally rich biodiversity, including numerous endemic species found nowhere else on Earth, making its natural heritage highly valuable to both the global community and future generations.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>A complete set comprises four identical gold coins containing a total of 12.44g of 999.9 fine gold, with each coin weighing 0.1 ounce (3.11g). The collection is limited to only 800 sets nationwide, where each set carrying an individual serial number. The \u201cMalaysian Flora Collectible Gold Coins Set\u201d is launched at a retail price of RM8888.00, which may vary in accordance with international gold price fluctuations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collection showcases four remarkable flora species that symbolize the uniqueness of Malaysia\u2019s tropical rainforests: Hibiscus, Malaysia\u2019s national flower; Slipper Orchid, with the subspecies Paphipledilum rothschilianum, crowned with the title Gold of Kinabalu and recognized as one of the world\u2019s rarest and most valuable orchids, found exclusively in Sabah\u2019s Kinabalu Park; Pitcher Plant, with the subspecies Nepenthes rajah endemic to Kinabalu Park and one of the world\u2019s largest carnivorous plants; and Rafflesia, the world\u2019s largest flower found in both the rainforests of Peninsular and East Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch marks Tomei\u2019s second conservation-themed collaboration with WWF-Malaysia, following the introduction of the \u201cLimited Edition Gold Coins Collection in Commemoration with WWF-Malaysia 50th Anniversary\u201d in 2022. While the previous collection highlighted endangered wildlife, the MY Flora Gold Coins extends conservation from fauna to flora, while emphasizing the importance of protecting Malaysia\u2019s tropical rainforests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomei Independent Non-Executive Director, <strong>Tan Sri Dr. Madinah Binti Mohamad<\/strong>, announced that under the Tomei CARE Fund Support Campaign 2026, 2% of the retail price from every MY Flora Gold Coins sold will be channelled into the Tomei CARE Fund, from the launch of the campaign until its conclusion in June 2027, or earlier upon the complete sell-out of all 800 sets. After completion of the campaign, Tomei will formally handover the total contribution accumulated in Tomei CARE Fund to WWF-Malaysia in support of its environmental conservation efforts.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>\u201cWe are committed to raising a minimum of RM70,000 through this campaign and are confident that the total contribution will exceed RM100,000. Through this collaboration, we hope to empower consumers to respond to this meaningful conservation efforts while preserving a valuable collectible,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Tan Sri Dr Madinah further highlighted that sustainability considerations were embedded throughout the product development process. The coins were produced using recycled gold sourced from traded-in gold, while the packaging and printed materials prioritize environmentally-friendly materials, including paper certified under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody standards, wherever reasonably practicable.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>She added that Tomei continues to fulfil its environmental responsibilities by promoting lower-carbon-footprint practices, including sustainable consumption through its gold trade-in programme. The flower\u2019s vibrant red colour represents courage, while its year-round blooming habit reflects vitality, resilience, and continuous growth. As a national symbol, the Hibiscus embodies Malaysia\u2019s progress and prosperity, as well as the enduring spirit and unity of its people. Renowned for its distinctive slipper-shaped pouch, this genus requires highly specific environmental conditions and is exceptionally difficult to grow in the wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Owing to their rarity and vulnerability, there are 110 accepted species listed under Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), making international commercial trade strictly prohibited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malaysia is recognised as one of the world\u2019s richest natural habitats for orchids. In the mountainous regions surrounding Kinabalu Park in Sabah alone, more than 711 documented species of orchid, including several rare Paphiopedilum species such as the Rothschild\u2019s Slipper Orchid (Paphiopedilum rothschildianum), commonly known as the \u201cGold of Kinabalu\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gold of Kinabalu, Rothschild\u2019s Slipper Orchid is often celebrated as the \u201cKing of Orchids\u201d. Endemic to the Kinabalu region of Sabah, it is regarded as one of the world\u2019s rarest orchid species. Although its flowering season typically occurs between April and May, wild sightings of the blooming are exceptionally uncommon. Its rarity and exclusivity have earned it a reputation as one of the most valuable orchids in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/events.tomei.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slipper-Orchid.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/events.tomei.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slipper-Orchid.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rafflesia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Widely recognised as the world\u2019s largest single flower, the Rafflesia is native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Malaysia is home to several rare and endemic species, including Rafflesia tiomanensis (endemic to Tioman Island), Rafflesia keithii and Rafflesia tengku-adlinii, found exclusively within the country\u2019s forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discovered in Sabah during the 1980s, Rafflesia tengku-adlinii was named in honour of Malaysia\u2019s distinguished conservationist, Datuk Dr. Tengku D.Z. Adlin. Endemic to Sabah, it is regarded as one of the smallest and rarest Rafflesia species in the world. Among all Rafflesia species, Rafflesia arnoldii is the largest. The largest recorded bloom measured approximately 111 centimetres in diameter and weighed over 10 kilograms. This remarkable species occurs naturally in parts of Sumatra and Borneo, including the remote rainforests of Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flowering period of a Rafflesia is exceptionally brief, typically lasting only four to seven days. Due to its specialised habitat requirements and short blooming cycle, conservation of the genus remains a significant challenge.
