PUTRAJAYA, 17 September 2026<\/strong> – The inaugural ADIWARNA RUNWAY concluded on a high note at Alamanda Shopping Centre on Sunday (13 September), wrapping up a dynamic four-day fashion showcase in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations. The event brought runway presentations, live performances, and direct-to-consumer retail together under one roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held from 10 to 13 September at the mall\u2019s Centre Court, the showcase was presented by Alamanda Shopping Centre in partnership with the Malaysian Official Designers\u2019 Association (MODA). The event commenced with a headline opening presentation by 22 designers, each unveiling a signature creation tailored from an exclusive bespoke textile print inspired by the vibrant hues of the hibiscus, Malaysia\u2019s national flower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The milestone showcase drew prominent guests, including key representatives from Tourism Malaysia and Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia (Kraftangan Malaysia), reinforcing shared national objectives under the Visit Malaysia 2026 roadmap to spotlight homegrown creative talent to regional and international visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DESIGNER SHOWCASES AND THE ADIWARNA RUNWAY BAZAAR<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across the four days, dedicated runway presentations highlighted contemporary ready-to-wear, modern modest wear, and bespoke collections from 16 celebrated designers: Justin Yap Atelier, Yuleza, NANALYANA, EL by Ellie Lim, Zayana Yazed Creations, Outdwell, CARRO, HERA, Bill Keith, CASALWA, SITI KHADIJAH, Ariff Atelier, 3THELABEL, Arlina Ayou, Yani Bakhtiar, and Variante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several MODA designers noted that the platform allowed them the freedom to explore their creative vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ariff, founder of Ariff Atelier, drew on his roots for the collection. “This collection celebrates the vibrant Malaysian Indian community and its rich cultural heritage through a contemporary fashion lens,” <\/em>he said.

The founder of NANALYANA kept the message simple. “Don’t dilute your vision, cut out the noise and channel your energy into what truly matters.”<\/em><\/td><\/tr>

For Arlina Amdan, founder and creative director of ARLINA AYOU, the craft itself carries the meaning. “Batik has always been more than fabric to me. It holds the hands, care and stories of the people who make it. Every design starts with me, but it comes to life through the artisans I work with.”<\/em>

Bill Keith took a more practical view. “Focus on what you’re capable of doing, not just what you want to do.”<\/em><\/td><\/tr>

Leslie Variyan, Founder and Creative Director of Variante, reflected on what the platform meant beyond the runway. “Adiwarna Runway was such a meaningful experience for me, both as a designer and as a member of MODA. It was heartwarming to see the genuine support and camaraderie among fellow designers, and wonderful for shoppers to see the clothes come to life on the runway. A great celebration of fashion, creativity and community.”<\/em><\/td><\/tr>

Puan Hajah Padzilah Enda Sulaiman, founder of Siti Khadijah, tied the collection back to everyday life. “Bringing the lineup of our Telekung, womenswear and Teman menswear to the runway allows us to showcase how Siti Khadijah can be part of our customers’ lives beyond moments of worship. More importantly, it gives us an opportunity to connect with them through fashion while showing the breadth of what the brand has to offer.”<\/em><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Running concurrently alongside the fashion shows was the ADIWARNA Runway Bazaar, a pop-up marketplace now in its second edition that allows shoppers to purchase ready-to-wear pieces and artisan accessories directly from participating designers. MODA highlighted that the bazaar has become a pivotal platform for connecting consumers directly with homegrown labels. Its first edition was themed “Style Your Way.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STAR-STUDDED ENTERTAINMENT & COMMUNITY INCLUSIVITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Injecting festive energy into the Centre Court, the four-day schedule featured live musical performances by a stellar lineup of Malaysian artistes, including Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, Daniel Chuer, Yazmin Aziz, Bunga Isme, Daniesh Suffian, Layla Sania, Farah Dolhadi, and Ernie Zakri.<\/p>\n\n\n

Layla Sania said,<\/strong> “I’m really thrilled to have performed at an event that combines music, fashion and creativity like this one. The response from visitors at Alamanda was very encouraging, and the energy was truly special. I hope this performance gave everyone an enjoyable experience and helped strengthen my connection with my fans.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bunga Isme added, <\/strong>“I believe fashion and music have something in common as both are ways we express our identity and our stories. That’s why, for me, supporting local designers is so important. They don’t just create clothes; they carry Malaysian identity, culture and creativity. When we choose to wear and showcase their work, we’re actually helping their story reach further.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ernie Zakri noted, <\/strong>\u201cPerforming at Moda Adiwarna Runway was such a beautiful experience for me. I loved how music and fashion came together that afternoon, and it was really special to be part of a platform that celebrates creativity and our local talents. I\u2019m grateful I got to share that moment with everyone.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

The Family Fashion Show at ADIWARNA RUNWAY, featuring the top 10 winning shopper pairs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasising Alamanda\u2019s family-centric focus, community segments included the Family Fashion Show, which originated from a mall-wide Model Search held in August. The top 10 winning shopper pairs earned the opportunity to walk the runway styled by five participating MODA designers: Variante, Arlina Ayou, HERA, CASALWA, and NANALYANA.<\/p>\n\n\n

Student designers present their collections at the ADIWARNA RUNWAY aspiring talent showcase.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, an aspiring talent showcase gave student designers from UiTM, INTI, Sunway, Raffles, UNITAR, UCSI, MUSPACE, La Mode, International Sewing School, and SSFS Studio a dedicated stage to present their collections to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In appreciation of Alamanda’s partnership as host, MODA presented the mall with a commemorative oil painting, commissioned from prominent Malaysian artist Mr Pheng, to capture the spirit of ADIWARNA Runway, a celebration of colour, creativity and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was presented by Alamanda Shopping Centre in collaboration with MODA, supported by MAC Cosmetics, FIOLE, R Beaute Group, and JUSTBCOS, alongside tenant support from Siti Khadijah and Variante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
