KUALA LUMPUR, 14 SEPTEMBER 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Eco-Shop, Malaysia\u2019s leading ultra-affordable household retailer<\/strong>, brought Merdeka month to a colourful close with the \u2018Raikan Seni Kita, Jiwa Bangsa\u2019<\/em><\/strong> Colouring Contest, drawing close to 300 children to the Muhibbah Community Complex in Kuala Lumpur, where the contest was held. Through creativity and self-expression, the initiative encouraged children to explore what Malaysia means to them while bringing communities together to celebrate the nation\u2019s spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from more than 15 primary schools across Kuala Lumpur took part in the contest, colouring original artwork by local creative collective Projek SembangSembang<\/em> using Eco-Shop\u2019s house-brand stationery, KREATI. They were joined by 44 children from participating children\u2019s welfare homes, who took part in the day\u2019s colouring festivities outside of the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Jessica Ng, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Eco-Shop Malaysia, said the campaign aims to inspire young Malaysians to explore what Malaysia means to them while building a deeper appreciation for the country\u2019s culture, identity and shared spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe colouring contest gives students a chance to express what Malaysia means to them through art. We hope it encourages them to celebrate their creativity and develop a stronger sense of belonging to the country they call home,\u201d Ms Jessica Ng said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the 252 contest participants, 55 students were selected as winners, comprising five top winners and 50 consolation winners. The top five winners received cash prizes ranging from RM100 to RM1,500, while their respective schools also received prizes, with SJK(C) Mun Choong and SK Seri Permaisuri receiving RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively, while SK Desa Petaling, whose students won third and fourth place, received RM3,000 in school enhancement funding for third place and RM1,000 in vouchers for fourth place, and SK Kampong Bharu received RM500 in vouchers for fifth place. The 50 consolation winners each received an RM100 Eco-Shop voucher, while every participating school was also presented with an RM500 Eco-Shop voucher as a token of appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the primary school students, the event also welcomed 44 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim dan Asnaf Qaseh Ibu<\/em> and Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia<\/em> to be part of the celebration. As a token of appreciation, participating homes were presented with contributions from Eco-Shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeeing the children bring their own ideas and interpretations to the artwork is a meaningful way to close the campaign. There is no single way to express what Malaysia means to us, and we hope the children leave today knowing that their perspectives have a place in our shared story,\u201d Ms Jessica Ng concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Colouring Contest marked the finale of Eco-Shop\u2019s \u2018Raikan Seni Kita, Jiwa Bangsa\u2019<\/em> campaign, which ran nationwide from 1 August to 30 September 2026 in celebration of Malaysia\u2019s 69th Merdeka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
