Self-care, as defined by the WHO, means what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health and to prevent and deal with illness. It is a broad concept encompassing hygiene, nutrition, lifestyle, environmental factors, socio-economic factors, and self- medication. The main goal of self-care is to prevent or control disease and preserve overall well-being through the consistent act of taking care of various aspects of ones own health.
Self-care is therefore the fundamental level of health care in all societies. One should utilise personal responsibility in a way that positively impacts their health in the present moment and in the future. Therefore, taking into account the importance of establishing self-care as well as creating awareness among societies, Serba Wangi Sdn Bhd, through one of their leading brands, ecoBrown, proudly organised FunActive with ecoBrown on 23rd July 2023, in conjunction with International Self-Care Day.
FunActive with ecoBrown, which kicked off at 7 a.m. at Sanctuary Mall, was overwhelmingly well-received by people from all walks of life. The participants, were incredibly enthusiastic about the main activity, zumba. Zumba was chosen because it fits with the programme objective, which emphasises the importance of self-care. In addition, the study discovered that 40 minutes of zumba activities may burn an average of 378 calories while also enhancing cardiovascular fitness, and, most importantly, it is fun andenjoyable. Along with it, there are a number of other intriguing activities during the zumba event, such as lucky draws, inflatable castle special for children etc.
It can be difficult to make self-care a priority, especially if you are busy and have always put yourself last, but there nothing wrong with starting now. Thus, as a proponent of a healthy lifestyle and a believer in the adage;prevention is better than cure; our main priority is to always promote a healthy and wholesome lifestyle.
