The 8th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) proudly announces its official screening schedule, inviting audiences to experience a week of cinematic brilliance from around the globe. This year’s screenings will unfold across GSC MyTOWN KL, home to both indoor and open-air screenings, and selected screenings at GSC Lalaport BBCC with 65 films from 48 countries.

In addition to an exceptional line-up of local and international films, the festival places a spotlight on thought-provoking masterclasses and forums that bridge creativity and craft.

Among the highlights is a masterclass by Asif Kapadia, acclaimed British filmmaker and Jury President of the 8th MIFFest. The Unscripted Narrative of Truth, the session delves into Kapadia’s signature documentary style, an emotive blend of archival material and cinematic storytelling as seen in Amy, Senna, and Diego Maradona. Another featured masterclass, The Director’s Script, will be led by Pia Marais, the celebrated German-South African filmmaker. Known for her intimate, character-driven narratives, Marais will also present her latest feature Transamazonia as the closing film of the festival.

In tribute to legendary actor Ti Lung, MIFFest presents The Hero’s Code, a masterclass held in honour of his receipt of the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Audiences can relive two of his iconic performances, A Better Tomorrow and The Kid from the Big Apple, followed by live Q&A sessions with the screen legend himself.

In addition to the masterclasses, MIFFest will also host the forum From Vision to Screen, a dynamic cross-cultural dialogue featuring Indonesian cinema icon Reza Rahadian, Hong Kong actress Jennifer Yu, and Indian filmmaker Rima Das. This forum offers a rare opportunity to explore the diverse creative journeys and challenges faced by storytellers across Asia, spotlighting the collaborative spirit of regional cinema.

As the festival builds momentum toward its grand finale, the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) on 26 July at Zepp KL promises a glittering night of recognition and celebration. Taking the stage as award presenters are a dazzling roster of stars, including Malaysian comedian and actor Zizan Razak, actress Lim Min Chen, Train to Busan producer Lee Dong-Ha, South Korean actordirector Lee Sang Hoon, Vietnamese actress Truong Ngoc Anh, South Korean actor Ji Seung Hyun, Taiwanese actor-musician Jasper Liu Yi-Hao, and Chinese actor-singer Dylan Xiong Ziqi. The ceremony will be streamed live on MIFFest’s TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook, connecting global audiences to the heart of Malaysian cinema.

With powerful stories, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable encounters, the 8th MIFFest stands as a vibrant celebration of creativity that knows no borders.
