KUALA LUMPUR, 29 JULY 2025 – Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Tokyo Street celebrates its 14th anniversary with a vibrant month-long Tokyo Street Matsuri, transforming the award winning Japanese-themed precinct into a festive hub of culture, cuisine and curated experiences from now until 29 August 2025.

Since its debut in 2011, Tokyo Street has become more than just a shopping destination. It has evolved into a cultural landmark, introducing millions of Malaysians to the charm, craftsmanship and culinary wonders of Japan on Level 6 of Pavilion KL. This year’s matsuri – meaning festival in Japanese – honours the traditional celebrations that bring communities together through food, performances and shared cultural experiences.

Highlights of this year’s celebration include Southeast Asia’s first-ever Alien Stage pop-up, a special collaboration with MetaPark featuring Quby pop-up experiences(available until 3 August), as well as a variety of workshops, stamp-collecting adventures, festive shopping deals and curated rewards that bring the best of Japanese culture directly to Malaysia.

“Fourteen years on, Tokyo Street has grown into a vibrant cultural bridge, celebrating Malaysians’ enduring love for Japanese culture. Tokyo Matsuri is our way of honouring that journey as a heartfelt thank you to families, fans and friends who have made Tokyo Street part of their lives. Whether you’re here for the food, shopping or anime, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” said Dato’ Joyce Yap, Chief Executive Officer (Retail) of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The Alien Stage activation runs from 8-18 August 2025, offering fans exclusive merchandise curated specifically for this event and available only at Pavilion KL. With over 2.2 million followers across Asia, Pavilion KL is excited to bring this viral Korean anime phenomenon directly to Malaysian shores. The excitement peaks during Artist Meet & Greet sessions from 15-17 August, where fans can interact with Alien Stage artists and witness special appearances by guest cosplayers, creating unforgettable moments for anime enthusiasts across the region.

Adding to the festivities, beauty enthusiasts can indulge in the exclusive shu uemura shu:icons pop-up at Pavilion KL’s Level 3 Main Entrance until 10 August 2025, offering complimentary flash makeover, hand spa treatments, trial kits and limited-time discounts of up to 58%.

Joining this beauty lineup, Miko Hair Galere, a trusted name in  professional haircare, will be offering exclusive product bundles and express hairstyling, along with an exclusive promotion of 30% off all services (excluding hair wash and hair cut), bringing a touch of Japanese salon elegance to the Matsuri celebration.

Guests can immerse themselves in authentic cultural experiences, including accessories workshops by Bling Bling Paradise from now till Sunday, 3 August and traditional Wagashi-making workshops from 2-3 August 2025. Pavilion Privileges Members can also enjoy an exclusive sake tasting and pairing session curated by Kampachi on Saturday, 2 August. These curated activities offer visitors a deeper connection to Japanese artistry and flavours.

Adding to the dining excitement, the newly opened MaiSEN offers an exceptional Buy 1 Free 2 promotion from now to 31 August. “When we see families discover new traditions together and make lasting memories during our Tokyo Street Matsuri, we know we’ve succeeded in our mission to make the world a little smaller and a lot more connected,” added Dato’ Joyce. “This festival brings the authentic spirit of Japan closer to home for families across Malaysia.”
