MyTOWN Shopping Centre is collaborating with the local brand APOM (A Piece of Malaysia) to host the #EMPATBELAS 2025 scarf showcase, celebrating Malaysia’s independence and formation days. The month-long event, themed “United by Art,” features scarves designed by 14 artists, each representing a Malaysian state.

From 22 August to 16 September 2025, shoppers can step into a kaleidoscope of creativity as 14 designers, each representing their home state, transform the humble scarf into a bold canvas for Malaysian stories. This year’s theme, “Kita Banyak Pattern,” celebrates everything that makes each state unique from its dialect and dress to customs, quirks, and charm.
The nationwide design call drew over 70 submissions, from which one designer from each state was selected to represent their home state through colour, motif, and texture. Since its debut in 2021, #empatbelas has reimagined Malaysian pride on stamps, pantuns, and movie posters. For 2025, MyTOWN becomes the home of the scarf edition and the debut of an exciting new scarf bag that blends style and practicality so you can literally carry a piece of Malaysia anywhere you go.

“We are proud to partner with APOM for this year’s #empatbelas showcase. MyTOWN has always been a place where creativity, culture, and community meet — and inclusivity is at the heart of what we do,” said En. Azhan Che Mat, General Manager of MyTOWN Shopping Centre. “This is another way we celebrate Malaysian stories and give them a platform to shine.” MyTOWN is also home to thriving local entrepreneurs such as Christy Ng, Buttonscarves, Tracey, Nunha, BookXcess, SSF, Royal Kebaya, and Butter Kaya Kopitiam.
The scarf showcase is part of a larger celebration at MyTOWN that includes live weekend performances, hands-on workshops like batik painting, interactive art walls, a Stamp Quest Adventure, and Gachapon surprises.

APOM is a Malaysian brand that partners with local designers to create products celebrating the country’s culture. Their annual #empatbelas project, which started in 2021, has previously featured Malaysian pride on items like stamps and movie posters
