The ‘Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Program’ was announced today, as a collaborative effort between Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK), the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia), and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), with the intention of promoting Malaysia’s tourism, culture, and entertainment on a global scale through the Beijing International Film Festival 2023 (BJIFF 2023).
Through this collaboration, the involved parties will be working closely to spark interest among foreign corporations to spotlight Malaysia’s diverse cultures, traditions, attractions, and talents through various initiatives held in conjunction with the BJIFF 2023. MMK, FINAS, Tourism Malaysia, and MATRADE are ecstatic to come together to drive overseas inflows of investment opportunities that will position Malaysia as the preferred investment destination with immense potential, given its rich historical and cultural background.
As they set out on their mission to Beijing, China, on 26 April 2023 – 2 May 2023, the ‘Malaysia-China cultural Exchange Program’ will accommodate more than 20 established local delegates from the film industry, who will participate in education programs, fashion forums, and business talks hosted by prominent film industry leaders. In doing so, the delegates are able to share, educate, and learn from one another’s experiences and showcase their talents in their respective backgrounds; this opens the door for collaborations with producers from all across the globe.
Apart from that, the collaborating parties will be hosting a never-before-seen traditional Malaysian kebaya fashion show in the capital city of China for the first time in history, in a crossover event with the BJIFF. This proactive approach orchestrated by the government is aimed to elevate the promotion of Malaysia’s culture by enticing international visitors from all walks of life at BJIFF 2023 to discover more about our traditions and what Malaysia has to offer.
Dr. Jason Hee, Organizing Chairman of the Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange Program said, “Through this cultural exchange program, we aim to raise awareness of the values of tourism and investment opportunities in Malaysia. We are excited to collaborate with China during the Beijing International Film Festival and we hope to strengthen our relationship by exchanging knowledge and experiences that will deem beneficial for the growth and socio-economic development of Malaysia and China.”
