Taking place from 31 October to 15 November 2026, Urbanscapes puts artists, makers and creative communities front and centre as it begins the build-up to its 25th anniversary in 2027.
KUALA LUMPUR, 19 October 2026 – After seven years away, Urbanscapes returns from 31 October to 15 November 2026 with a series of free experiences across Kuala Lumpur. Everyone is invited as the platform goes back to basics, putting the artists, musicians, makers and communities who have shaped it from the beginning front and centre.
Made Different is the common thread connecting every edition of Urbanscapes, celebrating people with distinct perspectives and ways of creating. As a commissioning platform, Urbanscapes gives these voices space to turn their ideas into work others can experience. Together, their creations form a love letter to Kuala Lumpur.
“For this return, we’re going back to basics by starting with the people and the ideas they want to share, and building the experiences around them. Our focus is on giving each voice room to be heard and each piece of work the attention it deserves, rather than on the scale of the production. That is the spirit of Made Different that has connected Urbanscapes from the beginning,” said Adrian Yap, Founder of Urbanscapes.
This return also begins the build-up to Urbanscapes’ 25th anniversary in 2027, with activities planned throughout the coming year. The experiences this October and November unfold through two strands: Everyday Inspiration and Shared Moments.
Everyday Inspiration
Everyday Inspiration brings commissioned work into public spaces, inviting people to encounter art as part of their day.
At TRX, Studio Soüfflé’s Udara Fest places a series of large-scale inflatables along a continuous walking route. Their playful forms contrast with the clean lines of the financial district, inviting visitors to pause, explore and see familiar surroundings through the studio’s approach to spatial design.
Shared Moments
Shared Moments brings people together through music, exhibitions, conversations, workshops and food, reconnecting familiar communities and introducing new voices.

The opening weekend welcomes CRE.ATE 2026 by Cult Creative at Sky Society KL, bringing content creators and independent businesses together through talks, practical workshops, a marketplace and community activities. Voices including Shalma Ainaa, Kim May Chee and Dee Alimin will share their experiences of building businesses and creative careers, offering a closer look at the people shaping Malaysia’s creator community.

Also taking place over the opening weekend, Past Forward at Bangunan Sultan Abdul
Samad brings together a line-up of musicians, workshops and talks, alongside the Shell Café Barista Cup, showcasing barista talent. As Official Coffee Partner, Shell Café will serve handcrafted coffee and fresh pastries from its mobile truck across three venues. Its exclusive “KL Story On Every Cup” tumbler collection will also feature four custom designs by Malaysian artists Dania Mah (thatDania) and Adnin (Graphnin).

At APW Bangsar, Long Time No See celebrates the people, places and memories that shaped Kuala Lumpur in the late 2000s. Mimosa revisit the sounds of the era, while a Palate Palette pop-up and Back in Service food collaborations bring familiar faces from the city’s dining scene together again.

The gathering also looks further back through Night Shift, an exhibition curated by Roshan Menon and Callen Tham, exploring Kuala Lumpur’s nightlife between 1997 and 2003. Through flyers, posters, photographs and interviews, it examines how clubs became spaces for music, design and community, documenting a chapter often forgotten in the city’s cultural history.

The closing weekend brings Sunny Days to TRX, spotlighting emerging voices across music, fashion, food, design and street culture, with Off The Track curating the Sunny Stage.
Spritzer Story Sessions, a documentary-style content series, will offer a closer look at the people behind these experiences. As Official Hydration Partner, Spritzer will also support artists, crew and vendors across all venues, with its Hydration House welcoming visitors at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and TRX.
