KUALA LUMPUR. The all-new McLaren Artura was unveiled in Malaysia today at the McLaren Kuala Lumpur showroom. McLaren Automotive’s first series production in high-performance hybrid supercar
As a high-performance hybrid, it blends thrilling performance, driving dynamics and engagement with EV driving capability.
“The McLaren Artura paves the way for a brand-new breed of hybrid supercars to be introduced by the McLaren brand. A combination of pioneering design, ultra-light engineering and extreme performance derived from an enhanced internal combustion – electric hybrid engine, is set to blaze the trail with class-leading dynamics, response and driver experience. We are confident that the Artura brings about a new era of supercar motoring in Malaysia, and a refreshing appreciation of how the latest advancement in hybrid technology is propelling the future”, said Ravinder Singh, Chief Operating Officer, McLaren Kuala Lumpur.
Until now, hybrid-powered McLaren cars were only found in the rarified Ultimate Series, the legendary McLaren P1TM pioneering the technology, followed by the Speedtail Hyper-GT using an electrified drivetrain to achieve a top speed in excess of 400km/h. Everything on the McLaren P1™ was designed with one purpose in mind: to enhance its performance. 916PS generated by the 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine coupled to an electric motor gives tremendous power and instant throttle response with an electronically limited top speed of 350km/h and 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
The Artura incorporates an all-new 120°-angle twin-turbo 3.0 V6, assisted by a compact 94bhp axial-flux E-motor. At just 160kg it weighs 50kg less than a McLaren V8 and is significantly shorter, enhancing packaging efficiency. The Artura’s combinead output of 680PS and 720Nm and a DIN weight of 1,498kg enables blistering acceleration of 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds; 0-200km/h in 8.3 seconds; and 0-300km/h in 21.5 seconds.
The McLaren Artura sells at a starting price of RM1.05 million before tax but is accessible with a wide variety of personalisation possibilities and options.
