Updates for Doctors: Scientific Talk on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) – Does It Affect Our Public Health and Work Productivity?

Mines Wellness City, 5 July 2023 – The Malaysian Association for Advancement of Functional and Interdisciplinary Medicine (MAAFIM) held an “Updates for Doctors: Scientific Talk on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) – Does It Affect Our Public Health and Work Productivity?” Seminar and Press Conference at The Mines Beach Resort. The seminar, which is the first of its 2023-2024 session, brought together experts from medical and related fields from Malaysia and abroad to present discussions on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) and its related issues, all of which affect human health and wellbeing.

Due to rapidly increasing technological progress, the impact of EMFs is an increasingly important topic. Everyone is exposed to a complex mix of EMFs, caused by 4G, 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi, smart homes devices, for example, which have immense effects on the health of all living beings. Many doctors see potential correlations between health problems and electromagnetic radiation. According to GSMA Intelligence, there are over 5.3 billion mobile smartphone users in the world today. Research has shown that the average productivity rate of employees has reduced to 2 hours and 53 minutes, showing employees being only active for 31% of their working hours.

As a vanguard association in Interdisciplinary Medicine, MAAFIM has made significant strides in merging the boundaries between conventional and complementary medicine, underpinning their endeavours with rigorous scientific evidence. Recognizing the pertinence of the EMFs’ issue on both health and productivity, MAAFIM took the lead in organizing the “Updates for Doctors: Scientific Talk on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) – Does It Affect Our Public Health and Work Productivity?” Seminar and Press Conference. As the inaugural event of the “Updates for Doctors” series for the 2023-2024 session, the seminar sets a high bar for future discussions, reiterating MAAFIM’s commitment to addressing timely and important issues.

Prof. Dr. Adlina Suleiman, the Deputy President of MAAFIM, captured the essence of the seminar’s objectives, stating, “Our central aim with this seminar was to shed light on the potential influences of EMFs on health and work productivity. Among them were notable speakers such as Dr. Amir Farid, a committee member of the Association of Integrative Medicine Malaysia (AIMM); Prof. Dr. Adlina Suleiman, the Deputy President of MAAFIM; and Mr. Juergen Seipel, the founder of VIVOBASE GmbH, Germany. Key figures who graced the event included MAAFIM’s Patron, Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, its President Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Mr. Jackie Teh, the Director of Vivobase Malaysia, and Ms. Karen Foo, nutritionist and Vivobase Malaysia’s brand ambassador.
