PETALING JAYA, 11 AUGUST 2026 – The Chicken Rice Shop (TCRS) marked its 26th anniversary with a nationwide brand refresh, unveiling a revitalised mascot, refreshed staff uniforms, an updated printed menu, and new menu offerings that reflect just how much the brand has grown beyond its namesake dish. The refresh also introduced expanded merchandise, including TCRS’ own Sambal Chilli Crunch, giving Malaysians new ways to enjoy the brand’s familiar flavours.

While chicken rice remains at the heart of TCRS, the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the rich variety of Malaysian flavours that have made the brand a household name for generations. Beyond its signature Hainanese Chicken Rice, TCRS continues to evolve its menu with exciting new creations, including Boneless Crispy Roast Chicken, Strawberry Kunafa Pai Tee, BBQ Chicken Mayo Pai Tee, and Cakoi with Pandan Gula Melaka. Together with its expanded merchandise line, these additions reflect TCRS’ commitment to preserving the familiar tastes Malaysians love while introducing fresh experiences that keep families coming back for more.
Ms Jane Wong, Deputy General Manager of The Chicken Rice Shop Restaurants Sdn. Bhd., said the anniversary was a reminder of how far the brand has come – and how much more it has to offer.
“For 26 years, Malaysians have made The Chicken Rice Shop part of their everyday moments, and we are incredibly grateful for that support. This refresh isn’t just about a new look – it’s about showing Malaysians that there’s so much more to discover with us, from new dishes to new ways to bring our flavours home,” said Ms Jane Wong.

Beyond the brand refresh, TCRS also marked the milestone by reaffirming its long-standing commitment to giving back. Through its ongoing CSR programme, the brand has sponsored more than 7,000 meals annually to orphanages, welfare organisations, and nurseries across Malaysia since 2000 – a reminder that for TCRS, good food should bring comfort to every community, not just its customers.

Since opening its first restaurant in 2000, TCRS has grown into one of Malaysia’s most recognised homegrown casual dining brands, with more than 160 outlets nationwide today. Building on this strong foundation, the company remains committed to making its affordable, familiar dining experience even more accessible, bringing TCRS closer to where Malaysians live, shop, and travel.
Extending the anniversary celebrations to customers nationwide, TCRS also launched its annual Merdeka campaign, running from now till 20 September 2026. As the brand’s National Day gift to Malaysians, the campaign introduces a special RM16.90 Merdeka Combo, comprising a Single Portion Chicken (Steamed, Roast, or Soy Sauce), Chicken Rice, a choice of Keropok Lekor or Penang Rojak, and a 12oz soft drink – offering families an affordable way to come together and enjoy familiar local favourites.

Ms Jane Wong added that the milestone was a moment to celebrate not just where TCRS has been, but also where it’s headed.
“Twenty-six years in, we’re still the same Chicken Rice Shop that Malaysians have trusted – we’ve simply found new ways to serve them better, whether that’s through new flavours on our menu or the little ways we give back to the communities that have supported us.”
