KUALA LUMPUR, 25 JUNE 2026 – The Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA) proudly takes centre stage in East Meets West: The Hair Artistry Unleashed, a creative showcase presented through the collaboration of Henkel Malaysia’s Schwarzkopf Professional and Shiseido Professional, bringing together world-class hairstylists and Malaysian fashion designers in a celebration of artistry without boundaries.
Inspired by the meeting of two creative worlds represented by the two professional hair brands, East Meets West explores how diverse cultural perspectives, artistic philosophies and design approaches can come together to create something entirely new. The showcase serves as a visual dialogue between East and West, where precision meets expression, tradition meets innovation, and artistry transcends geographical boundaries through the universal languages of hair and fashion.
The immersive showcase explores the concept of The Colour Spectrum – a creative journey that traverses East and West through three distinct chapters, each expressed through the harmonious interplay of hair, fashion, lighting, movement and performance.

As hair artistry takes the spotlight, fashion plays an equally vital role in bringing each creative vision to life. Through a collaboration facilitated by MODA, six Malaysian designers were invited to create original looks that complement and elevate the hairstylists’ artistic concepts, resulting in a fully immersive experience in which hair and fashion form a single creative language.
The participating MODA designers include Jimmy Wong of Double U by Jimmy Wong, Ellie Lim of El by Ellie Lim, Oscar Lee of Outdwell, You Sheng of Yuleza, Ashley Wong of Ashley @ Kapas, and Ariff Shukor of Ariff Atelier. Working together with local and international hairstylists, each designer translated the show’s thematic chapters into wearable artistic statements, where every model became a complete visual expression of the creative narrative.

East Meets West Where Balance Becomes Boldness
The showcase celebrated the convergence of creative influences from the East and West, exploring themes of balance, harmony and artistic possibility. Designers Jimmy Wong of Double U by Jimmy Wong, Oscar Lee of Outdwell, Ellie Lim of EL by Ellie Lim and You Sheng of Yuleza interpreted these ideas through iridescent finishes, structured volumes and sculptural silhouettes, creating a dynamic interplay of colour, movement and form.

The presentation then evolved into a bold expression of confidence, creativity and transformation. Designers Ashley Wong of Kapas and Ariff Shukor of Ariff Atelier collaborated with Arjan Bevers, Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Colour Ambassador from the Netherlands, to create looks inspired by organic textures, fluid movement and architectural forms. Bathed in fiery crimson and incandescent hues, the finale delivered a powerful showcase of creative freedom, where hair and fashion became bold statements of individuality and artistic innovation.
Creating Opportunities Through Creative Collaboration
As the national platform representing Malaysia’s fashion design community, MODA continues to champion initiatives that connect local designers with industry partners, international collaborators and new audiences. The association’s participation in Schwarzkopf Professional and Shiseido Professional’s East Meets West – The Biggest Hair Show reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering cross-industry partnerships that elevate Malaysian design talent while encouraging innovation and creative exchange.
