Aquaria KLCC and Jabatan Muzium Malaysia partner to showcase living marine life alongside 51 historical wildlife specimens in a groundbreaking educational showcase.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 10 September 2026 – Aquaria KLCC and Jabatan Muzium Malaysia, through the Natural History Museum Malaysia, today launched “The Hidden Wonders of Malaysia”, a new biodiversity campaign aimed at bringing the country’s rich natural heritage closer to the public through a unique combination of live marine life and preserved wildlife specimens.
Officiated by En. Mohammad Shawali bin Haji Badi, Deputy Director General of Jabatan Muzium Malaysia, the exhibition features 51 specimens and replicas valued at over RM320,000. Spanning four key animal taxa, the display highlights Malaysia’s unique native fauna while showcasing the vital role specimen collections play in research, taxonomy, and long-term conservation.
The collaboration brings together the expertise and strengths of both institutions, with Aquaria KLCC’s live marine exhibits complementing specimens from the Natural History Museum Malaysia. This unique combination provides visitors with a different perspective of Malaysia’s biodiversity, allowing them to learn about wildlife through both living environments and preserved scientific collections.

As the guardian of the nation’s biodiversity heritage and its valuable specimen collection, the Natural History Museum Malaysia, through this campaign, offers the public a unique opportunity to gain a closer look at preserved specimens, particularly those that hold significant historical value and cultural heritage.
To champion youth engagement, the launch featured an exclusive “Be A Taxidermist” hands-on educational workshop, introducing local school students to the meticulous science of specimen preservation. Additionally, Aquaria KLCC is debuting an interactive House System concept, an educational framework designed to guide families and students through the exhibit via gamified learning tracks. Complementing these activities is a special edition set of Discovery Hunt stamps created in conjunction with the exhibition, giving young explorers a collectible, hands-on way to track their journey through the displays.
